Grade 9-12 Learning Goals

As students begin to master the technology skills introduced and developed throughout their K-6 educational career, they are able to begin using technology to assist in personalizing and constructing their own knowledge and educational career.  Along with using technology to organize, present, and/or research their work, students should begin to recognize opportunities to continue their learning outside of the classroom (Khan Academy, MOOCs, Google HangOuts). Further, they should understand how to use technology to help develop positive life-long learning habits that explore other areas of importance to them beyond academics or the classroom (hobbies, sports, activities).  As technology skills are more refined in these older grade levels, all students upon graduation should be able to:
  • Demonstrate creative thinking, construct knowledge, and develop products using technology
  • Use digital media to communicate and work collaboratively, to support individual learning, and to contribute to the learning of others
  • Apply digital tools to gather, evaluate, and use information
  • Use critical thinking skills to plan and conduct research, manage projects, solve problems, and make informed decisions using appropriate digital tools and resources
  • Demonstrate understanding of societal issues related to technology use and practice ethical behavior using technology
